Meet Our Founder
Hi, I’m Kaela, founder of Sorted Out and a lawyer dedicated to helping you take charge of your legal life - without the overwhelm. I’ve built my practice at KD & Co Lawyers on a foundation of clarity, empathy, and a calm but confident approach to family law, criminal law, migration, and estate planning.
Early in my career, I worked across country practices, representing clients in a wide range of legal issues. That experience taught me how interconnected legal areas can be - and how important it is to approach every matter with holistic understanding and respect for the human experience behind it.
As a prior Deputy Registrar at the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, I had the privilege of deciding on consent orders, facilitating dispute resolution, and overseeing divorce hearings. That [short] time gave me a unique perspective on the Family Law system helping me to clients navigate it with clarity and confidence.
My passion for teaching has always been at the heart of my practice. As a university tutor and mentor to law students, I found true satisfaction in translating complex legal concepts into practical, empowering tools - an ethos I bring to Sorted Out. Whether you’re facing separation, sorting out parenting plans, or trying to protect your peace in a tricky legal moment, I’m here to guide you.
